Day 15: My Biggest Pet Peeves

I'm back from my five day Yosemite trip and it was fantastic! I had so much fun and made so many new friends, and most of all, I survived without any electronic devices for an entire week! Also, Happy Ultimate Pi Day everyone!!

Okay, so for those who don't know, a pet peeve is something that a person finds particularly annoying. So, for example, if someone says something that makes you feel like punching the person, or screaming at them, then that is your pet peeve.

I have a lot of pet peeves, the first and foremost being grammar. I absolutely cannot stand it when people say things that aren't grammatically correct. The most annoying grammatical mistake I hear is "On the light!" or "Off the light!" Oh my god. I scream at every single person who says that. Honestly, how hard is it to say, "Switch on," or "Switch off?" Some of the other common mistakes are two, to and too, affect and effect, and words with double negatives like irreversible. Grammar is my biggest pet peeve ever.

The next thing on my list is when people hear something about someone else and that causes a huge fight in which neither person is letting the other explain. I have been in an arbitrator in countless fights like this, and the first thing I always tell people is not to just go by something you heard from someone else, but to always talk to the person involved and get all the information first hand. Why do people get mad at other people based on something they heard from someone else? Who knows what kind of filters and biases the information has gone through before reaching you? I never fail to get mad when someone tells me that they are ignoring someone else based on something they heard. I always take all information to the people involved before I react on anything I hear.

Another huge pet peeve of mine is folded pages. Seeing a book mutilated by a folded page makes me honestly want to laminate every page of every book and/or keep every book locked up in a glass case. Why do bookmarks even exist if people fold pages left, right and center? Bookmarks are to keep books neat. They are not pieces of decoration. They are the only things that are supposed to be used to mark your page in a book.

I have loads more pet peeves, but they are less dominant in me, so I don't feel like punching people every single time.

That's all for today, see ya next week!
